Travel teams provide a greater level of skills training and competition. Competitive schedules are created by CJSA for the Central Districts of Connecticut. Some teams may also participate in tournaments in or out of state. Players must try out for a travel team. We currently have 4 travel teams: Girls U18, Boys U13, Boys U16, and Boys U18. New travel players must provide an original birth certificate and 1"x1" photo of head and shoulders at the time of registration or try out.

What is a travel team?

A travel team is part of a competitive league and is formed as either a boys team or girls team with players who have demonstrated exceptional ability and a willingness to train together to develop their skills, always striving to improve and excel.

How is a travel team different from recreational soccer?
A travel team stays together from season to season.  This allows the players to not only develop individually, but as a unit. Travel teams play teams in other towns according to the same level of team ability (level 1-6 schedule). Games are more competitive than rec and provide a challenge to the players.
All travel players must provide an orginal birth certificate and 1"x1" photo.  Players and parents must demonstrate a commitment to practices and games.

How far do you "travel"?
Regular Fall and Spring season games are played within your District. For East Hartford, the farthest towns include Somers, Canton and Simsbury. Usually no farther than a half hour drive. Often, about half of the games are played at our home field, Dwyer Park. If the team participates in a tournament or state cup, there may be some additional travel. In this case, the team would be informed well in advance.

When are the games?

Games are played Saturdays and Sundays during the same time frame as regular Fall or Spring season in rec.  League games, which count towards our record, are played Sunday afternoons. Friendly games, which do not count towards our record, are played Saturday afternoons. There are usually 10-15 games per season. An exact schedule is provided about two weeks before the first game.

Are there additional fees?

Although we always try to keep the fees low, there are some additional fees associated with travel. The regular registration fee for the season is usually between $70-$80 and is based on the number of games the team will play that season. There is a Uniform fee as well. If there are other fees during the season, such as for a tournament, that would be discussed in advance with the team.
